About The Art of the Duo:

The duo is an intimate, fragile and exciting form of musical interplay. In the concert series "The Art of the Duo", the art of the duo will be presented in various combinations. Temporary sound experiments, dialogs, dialogues, parallel developments or even three-dimensional sound structures are created.

The Argentinian cellist Paula Sanchez, who lives in Switzerland and has a very personal approach, will be a guest: she works with materials such as plastic, glass and elements from nature in combination with voice and electronics. About Paula Sanchez:

At the intersection of experimental music, free improvisation and performance art, Paula Sanchez's work focuses on the composition/decomposition and destruction/reconstruction of a mutable sound space. With a marked interdisciplinary profile, she first found her voice as a performer, interpreter and composer in the fields of theater and performance, highlighted by her participation in the experimental stage collective Ob-caenum - an important presence in the province of San Juan in Argentina, where she completed her music studies at the National University. She later obtained two Master's degrees - in Improvisation at the Music Academy in Basel and in Contemporary Art Practice/Sound Art at the Bern University of the Arts, Switzerland. Since 2018, Paula has been active in contemporary music and improvisation circles in Europe and has participated in numerous concerts. Her playing is characterized by the use of extended techniques and unconventional ways of playing, she works with materials such as plastic, glass and elements from nature in combination with voice and electronics. The result is the pure presence of an embodied sound that invents its own relationships as it makes its way into the void.

Christian Rosales Fonseca (electric guitar, electronics) is a composer, improviser, performer and electric guitarist born in Bogotá, Colombia. In his work, he integrates political and social themes from recent Colombian history and examines them from a decolonial perspective. His music reflects transcultural musical influences from Europe and Latin America, but avoids an exoticizing point of view.

The violinist Johannes Haase moves in contemporary sound worlds on electric and modern instruments. He performs his latest works, composes and improvises. He has collaborated with Fred Frith, Johanna Borchert, the artists of Ciudad Abierta and the Goethe Institutes in India and Chile. He is the winner of the John Cage Prize of the John Cage Organ Foundation Halberstadt and the Klaus Huber Special Prize of the Hochschule der Künste Bremen. Co-founder of the Kommas Ensemble and PULSE. Masterclasses and workshops at various universities in South America, Europe and Asia. 2018 lecturer at the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, since 2019 he teaches improvisation at the Akademie der Deutschen Kammerphilharmonie Bremen.

A workshop with Paula Sanchez will take place on March 23 from 11-16h. A visit to the concert is included when booking the workshop.
