THE BIGTOWN BANDITS

In the organizer's words:

The BIGTOWN BANDITS are a seven-piece big band from "Motorcity" Stuttgart, who have dedicated themselves heart and soul to the vintage sound of the 1940s, 50s and 60s. The Bigtowners are influenced by the music of artists such as Wynonie Harris, Little Richard and Nick Curran, and their repertoire ranges from jump blues and roots rock'n'roll to the earliest soul and brassy swing.

Despite all the "old school" influences, the Bandits' sound is never old-fashioned, but always sounds contemporary and fresh thanks to the groovy guitars and energetic vocals. The gang is studded with renowned virtuosos from the Stuttgart music academy, who belt out their skills to the audience with total dedication - the passionate brass sections and pulsating piano, the polyphonic vocals and the smacking double bass sounds have so far sent even the most reserved dancers into raptures!

The elegant outward appearance of the BIGTOWN BANDITS goes hand in hand with their delicate retro oeuvre: gabardine, hat, suspenders and tie conjure up the glamorous extravagance of a downtown Chicago from times gone by and turn these men into daring hepcats, and not just musically.
