The Book of Transmutations. Chapter 4: The Intelligence of Plants. (Workshop) - Open Call

Workshop by Interspecifics Collective

Interspecifics invites you to participate in the workshop The Book of Transmutations. Chapter 4: The Intelligence of Plants.

This workshop is part of an unfolding methodology for the collective creation of digital narratives, in which the human relationship with plants and the natural world is reimagined through alternative futures storytelling. Over the course of one in-person and two online sessions, we will bring together diverse research approaches and generative, AI-assisted technologies to develop a science fiction short story and an accompanying collection of digital media.

The writing process follows a flexible framework rooted in Latin American futurism, aimed at amateur writers and science fiction enthusiasts. This workshop offers an inclusive and collaborative environment where no previous writing experience is required.

The outcome of the workshop will be a co-authored chapter that incorporates augmented reality, sound, and visual elements. This will culminate in an expanded reading performance, where participants transform the book into a dynamic transmedia interface live at ZK/U on August 22.

As part of a continuously evolving method of collectively creating digital narratives, the format aims to re-imagine the relationships of humans to plants and the natural world through alternative future narratives.

Over the course of an on-site collaborative session at ZK/U and two online sessions, we will bring together different research approaches and generative, AI-powered technologies to collectively develop a science fiction short story, accompanied by various digital media.
