Choreographer Stephanie Thiersch restages the Breathing Ritual with students from this year's School of Experience. The ritual was part of the piece "Archipel - Ein Spektakel der Vermischungen", which Thiersch created together with composer Brigitta Muntendorf, and was performed at the Ruhrtriennale in 2020 and as part of Theater der Welt in 2021. The high-energy, 18-minute ritual builds on a complex breathing composition based on the voices of the Norwegian Soloists' Choir and unites a multitude of bodies in a breathing rhythm. The recurring Breathing Ritual focuses on the breath as a symbol of connection and equality and sends a political signal against violence and discrimination.

This event is part of the School of Experience "What about Reality?"

In May 2025, choreographer and artist Ben J. Riepe and his team invite you to the third edition of the "School of Experience", a mediation format for students from different departments at various NRW universities and an interested public. Under the title "What about Reality?", this year's edition is dedicated to virulent questions about the reality and relevance of our physical live experiences in times of polycrisis. In an interplay of different disciplines, event formats and workshops, the space for reflection on contemporary (performance) art will be expanded and not just an intellectual approach, but a comprehensive, personal experience will be trained that focuses equally on a cognitive and physical-sensory understanding.
