Program:
"La nobiltà di Milano": works by Francesco Rognoni, Agostino Soderini, Giuseppe Gallo and Giovanni Paolo Cima
After the Sforza family had ruled Milan for centuries, the family died out in 1535 with Francesco II and the duchy fell to Emperor Charles V. From then on, the Spanish viceroys ruled the Lombard metropolis. At that time, the cornett, whose sound was compared to that of the human voice, was in its heyday. When Bruce Dickey, his Breathtaking Collective and the Prague-based Cappella Mariana trace the heavenly sound relationship between angelic voices and this historic wind instrument, the enchantingly beautiful and highly virtuoso music from the Milan of the Spanish Habsburgs can be experienced anew - a discovery!
