Indie-folk duo with nostalgic sounds

Live for four concerts in Germany in October

It's human nature to look back and try to make sense of the past. For the radiant indie-folk duo Joshua Lee Turner and Allison Young, it's not just a question of what to give up, but also what to take away. "There's something good in every decade of music. And there's good in every season of life," says Josh. "For us, it's about finding the golden in the past and bringing it forward." In October, The Bygones will be coming to Munich, Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne for four concerts as part of their Uk & EU Tour.

The pair share an eclectic nostalgia for the sounds of the past - jazz and classical, golden age musicals, 1940s big bands, 1960s singer-songwriters, dewy indie rock of the early 2010s - as well as a passion for instrumental music and covers. These points of contact began online, culminated in an impromptu recording session in Nashville, and led to an unexpected path forward.

The duo's first release together, a cover of Willie Nelson's "Crazy", was met with great enthusiasm online and led to a European promoter inviting them to tour overseas. Josh and Allison accepted the invitation and rushed to record an EP so they could play something - anything - for the audience. An audience that sold out venues and gave The (yet-to-be-named) Bygones a standing ovation before they'd even struck a note. "It didn't make sense," says Josh. "We weren't a band yet." But when you see The By gones live, you can understand the hype. Allison 's stylish, luminous presence and vocal finesse, Josh's astonishing technical skill and the palpable joy of their onstage dynamics create a live experience that demands multiple encores.

The world has asked these two musicians to be a band. Their debut album "The Bygones" was released on April 4, 2024 on Tone Tree.
