RUTHLESS BLUES ROCK THAT IS DIRTY AS HELL
The Devils from Copenhagen, Denmark, is a ruthless and dirty genre bastard that approaches blues rock in the same way as its Californian role models - The Red Devils - as a feeling that needs to get out. A desperation that longs to escape the body. A redemption and a catalyst for all the things we suppress in our everyday lives. The form is not the most important factor, because the experience is created by the intensity and energy when the audience is carried away by the music.
Many of the band's songs are based on trance-like repetition and a worn and ragged sound - dirty blues rock. That's not meant to sound nice, because The Devils don't play red love songs or sad blue melancholy. Instead, they play with a reckless ferocity and a more organic approach to their music, rooted in the blues but with offshoots in many different directions.
The band's lyrics are based on an underlying element of regret and despair. The feeling of having really fucked up and ended up in a dead end. Being so far out that it's too late to do anything about it. To have reached the point where you can't go back and just stop caring and scream at the world in pure and utter helplessness. This is music that puts its finger directly into a sore nerve and squeezes hard - and sends the audience into pure ecstasy at the band's rousing concerts.
The members of The Devils are: Singer Søren Bruun, who sings into a classic Green Bullet harmonica microphone that gives his voice a crackling 50s lo-fi transistor sound, while guitarist Lars Diers, bassist Christian Balder and drummer Magnus Søderberg provide the pulsating sonic tapestry. Their sound is a veritable melting pot of great influences such as ZZ Top, Motörhead and blues fathers like Howlin' Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson and Willie Dixon.
