For some a god, for others the spawn of the devil: Jim Morrison (Val Kilmer), the legendary frontman of The Doors, loves the intoxicating dance on the edge of the abyss. His life is an explosive mixture of passion, rage, self-destruction and a longing for death. When he died at the age of just 27, Jim Morrison had already influenced an entire generation with the unique sound of The Doors and left behind an immortal musical legacy.

In his biopic, Oliver Stone sheds light on the career of The Doors frontman Jim Morrison, who has burned himself into the collective memory as an icon of the 1960s. In addition to lead actor Val Kilmer, Kyle MacLachlan, Kevin Dillon and Frank Whaley can be seen as other band members of The Doors, as well as Meg Ryan as Jim's girlfriend Pamela. The two Doors musicians Robby Krieger and John Densmore were involved in the film as consultants, giving the concert scenes in particular a rare authenticity.
