The Hamburg Boogie Woogie Connection 2025
Hamburg, Fabrik, 8.8.2025, 20.00 hrs
The fixed date in the calendar of all boogie woogie fans: The Hamburg Boogie Woogie Connection on 8.8. Nine pianists will take off on two grand pianos to improvise together, complemented by bluesy trio sounds with guitar and drums.
Host Axel Zwingenberger has once again invited international guests from the boogie woogie and blues piano scene:
Neville Dickie is regarded as England's No. 1 stride pianist, but his playing also has deep connections to blues and boogie woogie. This year he is celebrating his 88th birthday, so it goes without saying that he will be a guest at the Fabrik on 8.8.
Jo Carpenter from Switzerland celebrates her debut at the Hamburg Boogie Woogie Connection. She belongs to the fortunately ever-growing league of female boogie woogie pianists who are giving the genre a more feminine touch. Classic boogie with piano and vocals, spiced up with rock'n'roll - the audience is at her feet!
Steve Clayton from the United Kingdom can look back on an international career spanning decades. Awarded many times as the best English blues and boogie woogie pianist, blessed with a powerful blues shouter voice, he captivates with his unique stage presence. We look forward to seeing Steve again!
Frank Muschalle from Berlin will also be honoring the Hamburg Boogie Woogie Connection once again. Long one of the best boogie woogie pianists of our time, he also weaves lyrical-swinging sounds into his music and enchants every audience!
Henning Pertiet is one of Germany's figureheads for blues piano. Earthy grooves are his specialty, and when he celebrates the music of Otis Spann, Roosevelt Sykes or Meade Lux Lewis, you feel transported back to the barrelhouses where this music was created.
Chris Rannenberg on piano, Jan Hirte on guitar and Torsten Zwingenberger on drums founded the "Capital City Blues And Boogie Trio" in Berlin and are making their Hamburg debut at the Fabrik. Each of them is a musical veteran of international stature - we are looking forward to the finest blues!
Merito and Rogerio Antonio, The Boogie Woogie Twins from Harburg, are the youngest representatives of Hamburg's boogie woogie guild. Their fire, virtuosity and one-eyed, somnambulistic understanding shine in their boogie world - wonderful!
Axel Zwingenberger has been living boogie woogie on stages around the world for over 50 years. The Hamburg Boogie Woogie Connection, which he founded together with Vince Weber and Poldi Eidenhammer, is the world's longest-lived festival of this music - the mother of all boogie festivals!
And last but not least, surprise guests will be performing again - the audience can look forward to it!
