"A true story of a man and a car and a gun." This dark film noir makes do with few ingredients. The man with the gun gets into the car of two unsuspecting hobby fishermen as an inconspicuous hitchhiker, turns out to be a nationally wanted murderer and psychopath and forces them to drive him to the Mexican border. A horror and terror trip of several days through barren landscapes begins. The night-time drives and rest breaks provide ample opportunity for effective compositions of light and shadow, the image of a dramatic chamber play in a confined space.
