The LOKAL Listener: Gregor Praml trifft Juliana da Silva

Together with her band, singer Juliana da Silva will be performing a tribute concert to Elis Regina, one of the most powerful and important voices in Brazilian music history.

During the Brazilian dictatorship, the singer Elis Regina became a symbol of freedom and resistance. Her interpretations turned songs by as yet unknown composers into classics that today characterize the Brazilian music repertoire. Nicknamed "Pimentinha" (the "little chili"), she and her band created a modern and unique sound. Even after her early death at the age of just 36, her music lives on.

In 2025, Elis Regina would celebrate her 80th birthday. To mark this special occasion, Juliana da Silva revives Elis Regina's greatest hits and pays tribute to the singer, a source of inspiration and musical role model for her, in this LOKAL Listener interview with Gregor Praml.
