The young hobbit Frodo receives an extraordinary ring as a gift from his uncle Bilbo. From the wizard Gandalf Frodo learns that it is the powerful ring of the evil Sauron. To prevent his return to power, the ring must be destroyed in Sauron's realm of Mordor. Frodo sets out on the arduous journey, but the enemies are not far.
After his 111th birthday, the hobbit Bilbo Baggins decides with a heavy heart to give a magic ring to his nephew Frodo. The great wizard Gandalf entrusts Frodo with the task of taking the ring to the realm of the wizard Sauron, who is striving to rule Middle Earth. There he is to destroy it in the magma of Mount Doom. So Frodo sets out on the perilous journey accompanied by Gandalf, his hobbit friends, a dwarf, and human and elvish companions.
