The Moonband

In the organizer's words:

"Relations" is the name of the new album by The Moonband (release date June 2025). The sixth full-length album has audibly added pop and dance elements. Synthesizer and ukulele as a soundtrack to couples therapy. The Moonband place themselves between nightlife and privacy. They are not very squeamish about it, especially with themselves.

Just as people and relationships change, the sound of the Moonband, the group and the people behind the music have always changed. For this album in particular, the band didn't take the easy way out with their relationship to their musical selves: The arrangement process was completely broken up - it was discussed, wrestled with, discarded and reworked. The group delved deep into the dark soul of the lyrics. The band was honest to the core about themselves and their personal issues. In the end, every word, every note, every beat on "Relations" sits where it should.

What the therapist is in psychology, the producer is in music. Markus Harbauer (Exclusive, Mola) has taken on this task, given the band a juicy groove treatment and introduced some innovations in the recording process, while at the same time, as good therapists do, working out the strengths of this relationship. Some acoustic instruments had to make way for pads and synthesizers. Nevertheless, mandolin and ukulele remain and polyphonic vocals are the musical core of this production, with all three singers taking on the role of front woman or man. And for those who just can't believe it: Yes, despite all the disco passages, this album was recorded live, in an old wooden house, far out in the woods.

The cover design of "Relations" is also a novelty: for the first time, the members of The Moonband show themselves - with no shortage of honesty here either - with wrinkles and gray strands, staged by illustrator and game designer Christian Reiner. The front cover features the youngest and oldest musicians in the group. Elena Raketes and Katrin Bobek's double portrait shows two generations of female musicians who - if we are honest - are the moral soul of this band.

Audible and visible: The Moonband has matured (although it's still a long way from growing up). On "Relations", you can hear the interpersonal issues that thirty to fifty-year-olds struggle with in different situations in life. Truth or dare - at least in terms of content, "Relations" is not for the first kiss. Rather an album for the next conflict that can give you the strength to be honest with yourself and your friends and still prefer dancing to brooding.

"Relations" will be released on the band's own label Intertune Records, distributed by Galileo Music.
