The River - Gastspiel des nepalesischen "Shilpee Theaters" im Schlosspark Freudenberg

In the organizer's words:

Guest performance in the Schlosspark with the "Shilpee Theater"

The "Shilpee Theater" from Nepal is on tour in Europe in July & August 2025. We look forward to welcoming them to Freudenberg Castle Park!

Theater art and activism are inextricably linked for the Shilpee Theater from Kathmandu. Their productions deal with social and political issues as well as gender justice. The aim is to stimulate their audience's thinking and bring about social change. To achieve this, they use a form of theater that the Brazilian director Augusto Boal calls "Theatre of the Oppressed". The aim is to encourage the audience to think about the solution to a conflict and actively intervene in the action.

The non-verbal play "The River" tells the story of a river that flows to the sea. It deals with the human relationship to the environment, global warming, glacial melting and environmental pollution.
