The Shadow Whose Prey The Hunter Becomes: von Back to Back Theatre

A sly theatrical revelation inspired by mistakes, misjudgments, misdirections and misunderstandings, reminding us that no one is independent of others and that we all bear responsibility

Four actors carry chairs onto the stage. They sit down. A public assembly is convened. The ensemble talks about small and big problems with a lot of humor: Which physical touches are considered appropriate? How does it feel to endure the therapeutic programs they have experienced as people with disabilities? What does it mean to approach a sense of "normality"? But the game takes a sudden turn when an artificial intelligence appears. And becomes the protagonist. The result is an emotional debate about social issues, in which concepts are discussed and social norms and projections of the audience are revealed.
The inclusive works of the Australian Back to Back Theatre are in demand internationally and are presented at many festivals (including Wiener Festwochen, Theater der Welt). In 2022, the company won the Ibsen Prize, the world's most highly endowed theater prize. This year, they will be guests at the International May Festival in Wiesbaden for the first time.
