The supergroup from the Munich indie underground celebrates the christening of their new album "Two: Rhyme On - An Anagrammatical Exorcism of the 70s" (BB*Island). 6 people dismantle album titles from the 1970s and reassemble them wildly and miraculously so that everyone can finally learn the truth about this decade, which funnily enough, but also unfortunately, laid the foundations for our fucked-up present.
2017: Just in time for the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love 1967, The Sound of Money present their 2017 concept record "More? WHY NOT! - AN ANAGRAMMATIC EXORCISM OF THE 60S" (BB*Island). To do so, they turned the titles of 12 of their favorite records from this pop-era decade into anagrams - and in no time at all, they had 12 titles for completely new songs: "Pet Sounds" became "Nude Spots", "Piper At the Gates of Dawn" became "Tiger T - Death Happens to a Few" ...
2025: Just in time for the 50th anniversary of punk, they are back on the scene: "TWO: RHYME ON - AN ANAGRAMMATIC EXORCISM OF THE 70s" (BB*Island) will be released on May 23rd - with anagrams from David Bowie to Chic, from Nico to Slits, from Bob Marley to Kraftwerk. An example? "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" becomes "Dr. Dr. Themefart, Frustrating Himself, Posed as Gay Old Nazi SS". (By the way, to pre-empt obvious ideas: No, without AI assistance. Still too difficult for them, they say).
And just like the title letters, the music and lyrics have also been shaken up into a dazzling, grotesque kaleidoscope of classic 70s pop styles: Agricultural p-funk, financial casino gospel disco, anti-pogo postpunk, doubting home computer dub jazz, the whole of Bowie in three and a half minutes backwards ...
