The Sound of Venice – Der Klang von Venedig

Compositions, sounds, films and audio-visual events with artists, choirs, craftswomen and wind and water

How does a city sound? From May 10 to 31, the exhibition "The Sound of Venice" invites you to discover the lagoon city from a new perspective - through its sounds. Here, Venice is presented not only as a visual, but above all as an acoustic experience. In collaboration with the Conservatorio Castelfranco and the Mainz University of Applied Sciences, works are created that explore the city's sonic identity - from the past to the present.
The exhibition invites visitors to experience Venice with new senses: the rippling of the water in the canals, the ringing of the bells, the sacred polyphony of the Renaissance and modern pop choir arrangements. The voices of the inhabitants, their stories and life away from tourism are also made audible.
In addition to the acoustic journey, The Sound of Venice focuses on the influence of light, space and sound on perception. The works open up new perspectives and question familiar images of the city.
