For the grand finale of his 10-year tenure, Ingo Metzmacher conducts music by the American composer Charles Ives, with whom he has a very special relationship.
"Ives' music opened my ears to modern music. To this day, it is the benchmark and guideline for everything I do".
The concert is entitled The Unanswered Question, Charles Ives' most famous work. The world-famous American baritone Thomas Hampson will be coming to Hanover as a special guest.
Together with the NDR Radiophilharmonie, the HMTMH University Orchestra and nine Hanoverian choirs, Ingo Metzmacher will bring a wide range of orchestral pieces, songs and choral works by Ives to the Kuppelsaal.
During the performance, Metzmacher will share his great passion for the music of this ingenious outsider of music history with the audience and will not only conduct this very special concert, but also present it.
