The very BIG Bigband Session

If that's not BIG! Three big bands from the north get Schuppen 6 going!

The JELLYFISH JAZZ ORCHESTRA from Wismar, led by Jana Rohloff, offers super qualified big band jazz. The ensemble took 1st place in the big band category at the national orchestra competition. Last year, it represented Mecklenburg-Vorpommern at the Federal President's Citizens' Festival at Bellevue Palace, proving that professionalism, enthusiasm and a good dose of idealism are the best prerequisites for jazz at a high level. The band is particularly proud of its own compositions and arrangements by band members.

The SUNDAY MORNING JAZZ ORCHESTRA (SMOJO) from the Ahrensburg area under the direction of Heiko Quistorf consists of former members of the Landesjugendjazzorchester and other committed musicians. Rehearsal date: Sunday mornings! The repertoire ranges from swing to modern (Sammy Nestico, Chick Corea, Quincy Jones, own arrangements etc.). After performing at Jazz Balitica and the Travejazzfestival 2023 in Lübeck, the band and singer Kathi Lock are delighted to be back in the Hanseatic city.

The SALT PEANUTS BIGBAND, host of the evening, has been a jazz great for over 30 years, not only in the city (including legendary Christmas concerts), but throughout northern Germany at festivals and many other events. This time, under the direction of Sven Klammer, the band will be performing some funk numbers by the popular band Electro Deluxe. Special highlights on stage are the versatile singer/songwriter Sarah Sieprath and the radiant singer and all-round musician Malte Langenbeck.
