Theater Grenzenlos: Was wir erben

In the organizer's words:

An intimate evening of theater by Theater Grenzenlos

As part of the Munich Theater Week, Theater Grenzenlos presents the revival of "Was Wir Erben". Due to the high demand for tickets to the performances in November 2024, Theater Grenzenlos is bringing the play back to the stage of the Mohr-Villa and invites the audience to an intimate evening of theater followed by a discussion.

On Wednesday, June 4, a workshop will be offered before the performance in which Theater Grenzenlos will share methods of play development and invite all interested parties to engage physically and creatively with the topic of heritage and family. No prior knowledge required, people of all ages are welcome.

The play is about a very personal and very universal topic: family. It explores the question of what our relatives' heritage means to us. Which stories, which decisions and events form the basis of our world view? And how do we deal with them today?

A mother and her son are faced with the house of their ancestors. They have to clear it out and dissolve it, because no one lives in it anymore. While clearing out all the things, they relive memories, take time to mourn and reflect. They also encounter the spirits of their ancestors in the house. In this way, they get to know and understand them anew and gain the strength to follow their future path in life.

The ensemble of this theater project is made up of young people from Uganda and Ukraine with a history of flight. Under the direction of Clara Hanae Tolle, the play was developed together with the performers in regular meetings. These meetings offered the ensemble the opportunity to deal creatively with the subject matter, to get to know themselves and others in a playful way and to express themselves artistically. In keeping with Theater Grenzenlos' aspirations, the result is a sensitive theatrical experience that tells a lot in just a few words and invites the audience to an evening about family, origins and the future.

Workshop: Theater for All - June 4, 18:30-20:00

Please note - booking a free workshop place does not automatically entitle you to attend the performance "Was Wir Erben" afterwards. Please reserve additional tickets for the performance.

All performances take place as part of the Munich Theater Week in the Remise of the Mohr-Villa Freimann.

Since its foundation in 2016,Theater Grenzenlos has set itself the task of realizing artistically challenging theater projects with young refugees, which, in addition to their respective, often very traumatic stories of flight, deal in particular with the loss of home and the search for belonging in a new country. The central concern here is to give the young people a protected space in which they can cast their

stories into a creative form and overcome their boundaries to a certain extent. In order to overcome language barriers, Theater Grenzenlos is always on the lookout for theater forms that work with little text and poetic images. The project also promotes contact between different groups in our city, makes complex topics relating to migration and our diverse society tangible and discussable and creates places of encounter and understanding.

Afterwards, Theater Grenzenlos invites you to enjoy a drink in the garden of the Mohr-Villa.
