TIBA Festival 2025

In the organizer's words:

On August 16, 2025, the TIBA Movement e.V., a young association that has set itself the task of providing a stage for Black & Brown artists of African descent and bringing the diversity of African cultures into the electronic music world - something that only exists in this form once in Cologne - presents the TIBA Festival in Die Kantine.

Under the motto "Journey into another dimension", electronic music will merge with fascinating Afrofuturism from Saturday, 14:00 to Sunday, 06:00. There will be three stages:

The Space Garden: Here the warm rhythms of Afro-House, Oriental-House and Amapiano and other genres from DJs such as Catu Diosis, Barulho World or Ukai Ndame & Walter Griot merge.

Planet Fawohodie (opens from 22:00): Dive into the darker and driving sounds of techno, industrial techno and trance with well-known DJs from Berlin such as DJ Periodt and Lucia Lu and a pioneer generation Detroit techno DJ Alan Oldham aka DJ T-100 as well as two afrofuturistic dance performances.

Cosmic Lab: This space invites you to a lecture on Afrofuturism by Peggy Piesche, live acts such as Frau Malonda and Aka Kelzz, a film screening on the history of Detroit techno, a ballroom showcase and selected DJ sets. Art by Carlos Carima and Natisa Exocé Kasongo will also be presented here.

The organizer TIBA Movement e.V. is thus creating a unique platform in Germany for Black & Brown artists and celebrating African cultures in the electronic music scene. Following the great success of last year's events in cooperation with OYA Müllem, the TIBA Festival once again promises a diverse audience and inspiring encounters. One important aspect is awareness: with the resources available, efforts will be made to ensure safety and inclusion on the festival grounds: with the Queerfeminist Door Collective, awareness teams on site, accessibility and the "Tiba Nook" as a safe retreat.
