Tigran Hamasyan combines jazz with post-rock and the rich musical tradition of his home country Armenia in a unique way. The artist explores forms of expression, tempos and textures, as can be heard on his two most recent solo projects "An Ancient Observer" and "The Call Within". The art of improvisation, which he learned through classical be-bop, forms the basis for electronic experiments - from explorations of odd meters to flirtations with heavy metal. Admired by musical greats such as Herbie Hancock or Chick Corea, the artist has toured internationally and has inspired a very diverse audience: from adventurous jazz lovers to progressive hardcore metal listeners.
