Actually, this string trio could also call themselves sirens, following Greek mythology, and would not be exaggerating a bit, except that these mostly female mythical creatures are often depicted with a full head of beard. They are not bearded, but they are at least as beguiling that their music turns everyone's head.
Katrine Grarup Elbo, Lisa Marie Vogel and Marie-Claire Schlameus already proved with their debut album Zephyr, which won the German Record Critics' Award and prompted RollingStone to dub their musical creation the "Future of Music", that classical string instruments are unlimited in their genre-busting sound spectrum. The trio uses exclusively analog sound sources of violin, viola, cello and voices for their magically shimmering sound richness between experimental pop and electronics. Their new album Epic Wonder, which lives up to its title with its floating melodies and detailed soundscapes, triggers a deep echo within that cannot really be understood or put into words. Something truly original and at the same time coming from an uncertain time and distance swirls out of these sounds. And so their multi-layered songs leave us simply amazed, blissfully happy and deeply fulfilled, floating in timelessness.
