Ton und Kirschen Wandertheater: Der Sturm *Berlin-Premiere*

In the organizer's words:

THE STORM by Shakespeare:

Why do we love Shakespeare? He was a poet of the people. A poet for all sections of the population. His work is a great inspiration for our touring theater. After HAMLET and the SONETS, Ton und Kirschen is now bringing Shakespeare's STURM to the stage. The text of Peter Brook's last theater production TEMPEST PROJECT was our template. It offers our international ensemble every opportunity to tell this story of revenge, forgiveness, rebellion and freedom with theater, puppetry and music.

CREATION OF THE TON UND KIRSCHEN THEATER:

Julie Biereye, Margarete Biereye, David Garlick, David Johnston, Rob Wyn Jones, Nelson Leon, Daisy Watkiss

ARTISTIC DIRECTION: Margarete Biereye & David Johnston

CLAY AND CHERRIES THEATER:

Ton und Kirschen is a touring theater group that was founded in the spring of 1992 and has been at home in Werder (Havel) ever since. The theater rehearsals take place on a plot of land in the Glindow district. The stage set is built here, and props, costumes, masks and puppets are also made there. From here, Ton und Kirschen takes its productions all over the state of Brandenburg. We install our stage and grandstand at the various venues. Every year we give guest performances in Potsdam and Berlin and in other German cities. We have also often been invited to theater festivals abroad. We have performed in many countries (Ireland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Russia, Belgium, Italy, Austria and Switzerland and repeatedly in France) and on various continents (Asia, North Africa and several times in South America).

The theater's current nine-member ensemble comes from Australia, Germany, England, Wales, France and Colombia. Under the artistic direction of David Johnston and Margarete Biereye, who both have twenty years of theater experience with the Footsbarn Travelling Theatre, 24 productions have been created.
