SILA

"Even if you can't see the sea, turn your eyes up, the sky is the bottom of the sea. Don't worry, heart, don't worry." (Sabahattin Ali) - The Turkish word Sıla expresses the longing of people who have gone abroad. But it can also mean overcoming this separation - returning to a beloved place or person.

Pianist Lal Karaalioğlu and soprano Nihan Devecioğlu are deeply familiar with both meanings of sıla; many years ago, they left Istanbul and their families to follow the voice of music. Now, in a highly emotional concert evening, they interweave Western-influenced classical music with the traditional music of their home region, allowing their own questions about security, arrival and self-discovery to resonate.

This evening is a musical invitation to all people who carry their home within them or long to return to their hometown. An invitation to listen to two exceptional artists who are meeting and accompanying each other on stage for the first time. An invitation to set out together and without fear in search of your own voice.

Sowing a small seed and looking at the plant in peace and with an open heart, watering it, loving it and waiting without knowing what will grow out of it, is for me the most beautiful image, the most beautiful way to describe a creative process.

The most important thing is not what comes out of it in the end, but the sowing itself, the time, the peace and the love.

Suddenly a beautiful, colorful personal garden emerges. One that you tend, that you live in, that you want to share with others.
