Toni und Helene

The movie "Toni and Helene" is a German drama from the year 2023, directed by Ute Wieland. Set in the 1930s, the story follows pianist Helene (played by Katharina Stark) and worker Toni (Anne Haug), whose love for each other is put to the test during a time of social and political tension.

As the two women fight against prejudice and the emerging threat of National Socialism, their relationship becomes a symbol of courage and resistance. The film addresses the conflict between personal happiness and social conformity with emotional depth and paints a haunting picture of loyalty, love and the strength to stand up for one's convictions.
