Topas is one of the most internationally successful German magicians. He has twice been crowned World Champion of Illusions and won the Golden Wand of Monaco. He has been a top act for 30 years and is a member of the top ten club of the best magicians in the world.
The public has come to know Topas as a perfect illusionist who makes entire busloads disappear. In Germany, however, he also performs under his real name Thomas Fröschle as an eloquent cabaret artist, increasing his presence as a comedian on television in particular. Instead of black magic, he uses black humor in a highly witty way. Sharp-tongued, quick-witted and never at a loss for a punchline, Fröschle also has his audience firmly in his grip as a comedian. He won Germany's biggest comedy and cabaret competition, the 8th Hamburg Comedy Cup.
Whether magician or comedian - experts and audiences agree that the cosmopolitan is also a first-class entertainer. Like all great magicians, Topas is a perfectionist who naturally takes his work very seriously. However, the tongue-in-cheek lightness with which he presents himself has nothing to do with black magic mysticism or the wafting abracadabra concealed with lots of high-tech, which is familiar from many a magician. Topas always presents his art with the disarming nonchalance of a stand-up comedian. Conversely, he performs on the cabaret stage with the technical virtuosity and surprise effects of a comedy magician.
At home and on his extensive travels around the globe, Topas is constantly developing new magic tricks, writing numbers for his comedy programs and fine-tuning the details of his performances. He performs around 200 shows a year. In Las Vegas, Paris and Beijing, in Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Stuttgart. Any hobbies? "Yes - magic."
