TOXODON

Toxodon is alive! In deep remembrance of the herbivore that became extinct 13,000 years ago, the prehistoric trio improvises its way through tall grass and vast steppes. Since forming their open-air band at the Moers Festival 2023, drummer Simon Camatta, electric guitarist Raissa Mehner and vibraphonist Salome Amend have only just survived with the help of electronics and Pliocene gadgetry. Thematic heads emerging from the thicket and wildly original compositions force them to leave safe paths. Toxodon's short but muscular legs didn't end in thirteen for no reason, so that it still stands by our side today as an analogy pulled by the bristly hair: Three toes, three syllables, three musicians from three cities combine the Ruhr, Rhineland and Bergisches Land to create a foolhardy jumble of semi-aquatic soundscapes and rugged independent rock.
