Transformation - Andreas Hoffmann

In the organizer's words:

Talk at the opening with Michael Kessler

Transformation is a photographic installation. It is created from video stills and photographs of performative actions based on the theme that have taken place in advance. The performer's body is a symbol of human sensitivity and vulnerability. The materials with which he confronts himself serve to nourish and preserve life, but can also have the opposite effect.
The transformation themes are set in the context of our rapidly changing world. They deal with nature, technology, ageing, transience and destruction as well as the changing climatic conditions of our living contexts. The artistic realization takes place with the use of the lenticular technique (wobble pictures/morvings). Different levels of images and themes are interwoven so that the viewer perceives different images as they pass by and can go through the transformation processes forwards and backwards. Large-format lenticular photographs are shown as wall and floor works in the exhibition, each of which raises different aspects of the theme.
