Hello lovelies, my name is Anna.
I am a trained trauma-sensitive yoga therapist and specialize in mental health. I have suffered from severe depressive episodes and eating disorders since childhood, suppressed many traumatic experiences for too long and simply didn't know that I could get out of them.
You guessed it: yoga is the miracle cure that literally saved me. Good therapy and medication also helped. But what helps me most sustainably and every day anew is yoga.
I see yoga as holistic bodywork that is fun. And I want you to benefit from my experience and knowledge so that you can enjoy life and be healthy.
Here at YogaMia, I would like to bring you closer to the topic of "trauma". Whether you are simply interested in the topic, whether you are a yoga teacher or want to become one - this module will change the way you look at yourself and your participants/clients forever.
Today, it is assumed that almost all people have at least one traumatic experience in their lives - which of course does not mean that they are automatically traumatized. However, it is becoming increasingly clear that many of today's ailments - both physical and mental - are the result of unresolved trauma. These include negative beliefs, back pain, depression, anxiety disorders and even cancer. Most people still believe that trauma can only be caused by extreme events. But this is far from the case.
It is true that the topic of trauma has become more socially acceptable. But it always shocks me enormously how little professionals such as doctors, therapists and even yoga teachers and therapists know about trauma, or how much false knowledge is circulating. And how often people who need help are treated incorrectly - even in our yoga classes.
Yet we have a huge responsibility in working with people. That's why we want to clear up prejudices about trauma, create clarity and help you to better understand thought and behavior patterns and respond differently to yourself and others.
We will proceed carefully and in small steps and always make sure that everyone is doing well. And we will have fun, even with this topic.
