With "Dream Factory - The Musical", the Theater Company Potsdam presents the hit movie from 2019 as a world premiere musical on the big musical stage in the Metropolis Halle.
Emil works as an extra at the DEFA Babelsberg studio in the summer of 1961, where he falls in love with the French dance double Milou during filming. They seem destined for each other and spend a romantic time together, but when the construction of the Berlin Wall begins on August 13, 1961, they are separated. Milou travels back to Paris and Emil hatches a daring plan to see Milou again. He pretends to be production manager Karl Boborkmann, writes a script behind the general manager's back and produces a film. Milou comes back from France to the GDR for this film and the lead role "Cleopatra". But will Milou choose Emil again?
The film was produced at Studio Babelsberg and now the story is returning to Babelsberg as a musical! In addition to elaborate technology, a large musical stage and costumes true to the original, the cast of the musical production with professionals from the industry is impressive.
Milou is played by Charlotte Fiedler from Hamburg (musicals such as A Chorus Line and Naturally Blonde) and Emil by Vincent Trefz (musicals such as Fack ju Göthe and Bibi & Tina). Berlin actor Lars Pape (known from Gute Zeiten schlechte Zeiten) as General Director Beck and Manuela Wisbeck (known from Lets Dance, das große Promibacken, Gute Zeiten schlechte Zeiten) as Christa are also part of the production's large ensemble. The Potsdam director and producer Alexander Kauf was able to engage the musical actress Clarissa Gundlach (musicals such as Abenteuerland in Düsseldorf) as choreographer. Together with the production's technical director Marvin Wrobel, they form the musical's creative team.
