TREASURE - FAMILY IS A FOREIGN COUNTRY tells the tragic-comic journey of Shoah survivor Edek Rothwax and his daughter Ruth. The film celebrated its world premiere at this year's Berlinale. The leading roles in this international German film production are played by Lena Dunham, who made a name for herself in the cult series Girls, and the celebrated, exceptional British artist Stephen Fry (The Dropout, OSCAR WILDE). TREASURE FAMILY IS A FOREIGN COUNTRY is a journey into the traumas of the second generation, into speechlessness and at the same time into the unspoken, deep love between father and daughter. A film that tells the story of the effects of the Shoah on the following generations of survivors.

Afterwards, director and screenwriter Julia von Heinz will talk to Dr. Kurt Grünberg (Sigmund Freud Institute) about the film, its making and the significance of transgenerational trauma with Laura Cazés (ZWST, podcaster, author).
