Tschechien erlesen: Petr Borkovec – Den Stock aufheben

Whenever the Czech poet Petr Borkovec makes an excursion into prose, reading pleasure is guaranteed. His short, closely observed scenes from everyday life are trenchant and full of subtle, sometimes melancholy humor. In a reading and conversation with his translator Lena Dorn, Petr Borkovec presents some prose miniatures from the volume "Den Stock aufheben", which was published last year by Edition Korrespondenzen.

Petr Borkovec is not only an author, translator, editor and literary activist, he also works as an editor for the Prague-based Fra publishing house. He also writes regular columns for the Czech press. His poems have been translated into almost all European languages, including German. In the fall of 2024, Petr Borkovec received the 15th Dresden Poetry Prize, the last of many prizes to date.

The reading is a joint event of the Hansa Library and the Czech Center Berlin, with the kind support of the Czech Literature Center CzechLit. Bücher am Nonnendamm is organizing the book table.
