When was the last time you were annoyed that someone drove through a red light in their car? When was the last time you tried to change your uncle's or neighbor's mind when he was spouting his own theories to the world? In situations like these, the voice in our head that is more interested in confrontation often wins. And we rarely manage to deal with our counterpart in a reflective and forgiving way. But couldn't there be another way?

The finale of the virtue trilogy looks at the potential for conflict in our society and discusses whether forbearance instead of condemnation and tolerance instead of devaluation could be the solution. To what extent is it possible and sensible to be lenient and tolerant? And isn't it also important to stand up for one's own convictions and put up a stop sign for others in democratically precarious times like today?
