TURNS: Collective Listening

In the organizer's words:

In his collective listening session, Robin Meier Wiratunga guides us through a collection of sounds that he has gathered over 20 years: A mosquito falls in love with a synthesizer, a sand dune sings with a wind orchestra, a bird dreams of songs from the future. A circulating loop pulsates at the center of these sound interweavings.

The new concert series "TURNS: Sounding Cycles" began in February. With "TURNS", the ZKM | Hertzlab creates resonance spaces that rotate our acoustic perspectives: Electro-trash becomes a choir, music meets belly sounds, gamers become performers.

The series plays with our listening habits and opens up the relationship between artist and audience. The audience space is transformed into a stage on which we encounter each other anew. International and local artists present performances, participatory installations and playful approaches that put us as listeners at the center.

Look forward to stimulating evenings in the Klangdom, in which social issues, artistic research and musical expression merge: circular economy meets microbiome and technological innovation meets organic resonance.

Each of the thematic cycles of "TURNS" - SOUNDING CYCLES (February-April 2025), SOUNDING OUTHEALTH (May-August 2025) and SOUNDING OUT CONNECTION (September-December 2025) - is a thematic impulse that opens up transformative perspectives on sound.
