Tusks

In October 2024 for an exclusive concert in Berlin

London-based songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Emily Underhill creates atmospheric and captivating alternative pop under the name Tusks, her music is reminiscent of bands such as Sigur Rós and Explosions In The Sky. Tusks' 2017 debut album "Dissolve", which she co-produced with Brett Cox (known for his work with Jack Garratt, Alt J and Marika Hackman), received praise from BBC 6 Music's Lauren Laverne, BBC Radio 1's Annie Mac and Huw Stephens, as well as media outlets such as Rolling Stone, Billboard, Mixmag, MOJO and Wonderland. Their second album "Avalanche" (2019) placed Tusks more in the direction of grunge and shoegaze. Influenced by My Bloody Valentine, Marika Hackman and Wolf Alice, the album was well received by an increasingly wide international audience and was used in popular series such as Netflix's "13 Reasons Why".

After guest appearances for artists such as Khruangbin, Ásgeir, Bear's Den and Submotion Orchestra, Tusks embarked on her first headline tour of Europe and the UK in late 2019/early 2020. Part of this tour included concerts at the renowned Village Underground in London, recordings from these dates were then released as a live album. In 2021, Tusks also worked with CJ Mirra on the soundtrack for the feature film "A Banquet".

For her third and latest studio album "Gold", Emily took a few months, partly at home in the middle of London and partly in Devon, where many of the songs found their inspiration. Tusks then worked with producer Tom Andrews to bring these songs to life in the studio. Electronic pop and open soundscapes - dynamics, nuance and emotion delivered with powerful vocals - at their core raw, exposed songs that feel authentic and intimate. Tusks often describes the complications and intricacies of human relationships in a way that is reflective and empathetic.
