First performed in New York in 2016, this musical adaptation of William Shakespeare's romantic comedy "Twelfth Night" promises confusion and love confusion: when Viola is stranded on the island of Illyria after a shipwreck and slips into the role of her supposedly drowned twin brother, the turbulent story takes its course.
The libretto was written by Kwame Kwei-Armah and the music was penned by Shaina Taub. The up-and-coming composer, who is currently conquering New York's Broadway and London's West End, recently received six Tony nominations for her play "Suffs", including "Best Musical". For "Twelfth Night", she wrote a snappy score with lots of catchy songs and groovy jazz-funk music that gets under your skin.
