Two Cities - One Groove!

In the organizer's words:

In search of the current sound and groove of jazz in our turbulent times, two state youth jazz orchestras will be performing a musical double bill with very different, current compositions from the European jazz scene.

The Berlin Youth Jazz Orchestra will mainly be performing its own compositions, which were written especially for this ensemble consisting of big band, string quartet and 4 vocals by bandleaders Fabia Mantwill and Nicolai Thärichen. Compositions by Claudia Döffinger and others can also be heard. You can look forward to a very individual sound from the Berlin Youth Jazz Orchestra.

In its new program entitled "European Spirit", the Hamburg State Youth Jazz Orchestra combines current works by composers from all over Europe, which are extremely different in sound, but are nevertheless carried by a common idea: that jazz as a musical language can overcome all borders, which are unfortunately gaining in importance again in Europe. Join us on a sound journey of enormous musical diversity and inspiration. The jazz scene in Europe is livelier and more colorful than ever - and the LJJO Hamburg wants to bring this experience to life on the stage of the Jazz Institute Berlin.
