About people

Spring 2020: Dora has moved from Berlin to the countryside with her little dog. A change of scenery that promises more freedom with less stress, more idyll with less self-doubt. She is looking to get away from lockdown and her boyfriend, who seems to have found his calling during the pandemic. In Bracken, Brandenburg, the world seems simpler at first glance, even if it is sometimes alienating for the young advertising executive. Shaking hands is suddenly normal again here, there are AfD stickers on the doors and the neighbor Gote introduces himself as a "village Nazi". But the cosmos that Dora enters when she flees to the countryside is much more complex than expected. Stereotypes suddenly become people. And Dora finds out that it is easier to form an opinion about people when you meet them.

Juli Zeh's "About People" challenges us to question our ideological comfort zones and focuses on the strengths that come to light when we manage to be human.
