Übers Jahr III - Reading with poems and songs by and with the Leipzig author Thomas Bachmann

In what is now his third volume of poetry, Leipzig artist Thomas Bachmann presents around three hundred poems and aphorisms from three years. Bachmann is a holistic work of art. That doesn't just mean his versatility: he writes poetry, paints, makes music and philosophizes in the pub. It also means his way of seeing the world and, above all, what he sees. He perceives it in its entirety. Bachmann writes about the kettle as he does about screaming children, about the West's mistaken belief that it can bring Russia to its knees ("On this planet / the Russians / can only defeat themselves / under Yeltsin / they defeated themselves / that pleased / the West"). With the sigh "Well", Bachmann comments on everyday observations and rages about the ghoulish treatment to which the dead singer-songwriter Gundermann is subjected, just like the entire country for which he once sang. There is nothing and no object that does not give him food for thought.

About Thomas Bachmann
Thomas Bachmann lives in Leipzig and has worked as an engineer and social worker, songwriter from 1988 to 1990, co-founder of the Leipziger Literaturkreis, from 1995 to 2003 texts for the weekly newspaper Freitag, from 1998 to 2017 at VS, directorial debut in 2000, off-theater, a total of five exhibitions of graphic art and photography; freelance since 2001; Readings for children (Hutzelbrutzel - language play program); several literary scholarships; 2003 premiere of the play "Mephisto" (König/Hellmann); around thirty books and publications to date, most recently "Der Großvater und der Tod" and "Schlafende Hunde VIII - politische Lyrik"; various chanson projects (text and music in each case), including "nurso-chanson". including "nurso-chanson" 2008/14 (CD "komm herein"), "Finesse" 2015/16, vocals by Ines Krautwurst, currently "semitone - chanson seit 2022"; occasional graphic/layout/photo work; band coaching, text workshop for young people and instrumental lessons since 2020, member of P.E.N. since 2012.
