"The melancholy of the tourist"
Documentary object theater
"The Melancholy of the Tourist" is a small theater-cinema with a lot of memory patina, a dream play of delicate things that appear briefly in the flickering light: old postcards and slides, retro devices, fragile mechanisms, miniatures made of paper and tin. Based on research in Cuba and the glamorous Mexican seaside resort of Acapulco, all the dreamy illusions that turn vacation spots into paradises are delightfully deconstructed. Behind their façade, however, the harsh reality of the people living there is all too often ignored. And it asks why we long for something that never really existed.

Oligor y Microscopía (Mexico/Spain)
Oligor y Microscopía was born from the union of Jomi Oligor (Hnos. Oligor) and Shaday Larios (Microscopía Teatro) in 2013. Their shared fascination for mechanical toys, machines, light and sound objects inspired them to develop poetic research methods for the memories in things. This gave rise to their current production in 2019, in which fiction and reality are mixed together in an atmosphere that can hardly be surpassed in terms of intimacy between players and audience.
