By Charles Way
German by Michael Raab
Low German by Annegret Peters
Ages 8 and up
Siblings Jim and Liv grow up on a farm in the middle of nature. They roam through the woods, encounter foxes, owls and badgers and experience nature in all its beauty and harshness. Jim loves country life and wants to take over the farm later on, while Liv prefers painting and drawing. But as they grow older, they become increasingly estranged. Liv eventually moves to the city, while Jim stays on the farm and does all the work alone. He is so busy that he doesn't even make it to Pete's wedding. Then comes the shock: the main house burns down. Jim faces ruin. But Liv returns. And she's not alone. Her little daughter Pearl is with her. She asks Jim to come with her to the big city, because she has a plan.
"Our Wild Years" is a fairytale story about siblings who are there for each other despite their differences and about the close connection between people and nature.
Told in High and Low German.
