UNTERLEIB UND SEELE | Ausstellung

In the organizer's words:

Endometriosis is a chronic disease in which tissue grows outside the uterus and can colonize other organs such as the ovaries, fallopian tubes, bowel or bladder. This can lead to inflammation, pain, infertility and other symptoms. Adenomyosis, on the other hand, is a disease in which tissue grows into the muscle layer of the uterus and can lead to severe menstrual cramps, prolonged periods and pain during sexual intercourse. Women who suffer from endometriosis or adenomyosis are often confronted with a lack of understanding and their symptoms are not taken seriously. Many have to wait years for a proper diagnosis and struggle with the physical and psychological effects of these conditions.

The artist ANNA LENA DUSCHL has realized a free project as a sufferer that deals with these often underestimated diseases. She portrays eight women and their complaints in an artistic way. DUSCHL wants to raise awareness of the diseases and play a part in ensuring that affected women receive the attention and support they deserve.

ANNA LENA DUSCHL

My name is Anna, and I am a photographer in Innsbruck. As a sufferer of endometriosis and adenomyosis, I have created an important, free project that deals with these often underestimated diseases. In this project, I portray eight affected women and their symptoms in an artistic way. Through my art, I want to raise awareness of these often misunderstood diseases. The photographs tell stories of pain, hope and strength.
