In our online masterclass "Urban Sketching", Jens Hübner teaches all the tricks for sketching in the city and in the countryside. Based on the eight guidelines of the Urban Sketchers Manifesto, a wide variety of drawing materials will be tried out over eight evenings in order to capture your own surroundings or strangers in your sketchbook in everyday life or when traveling. The conscious pause through sketching allows for a very intensive perception, the confrontation with the familiar or the new and the exchange with like-minded people.

During the online sessions, the small group is connected live via Zoom and the virtual classroom, the so-called Padlet. Jens' sketching demos on the topic of the evening and the task will be broadcast live. There is a joint evaluation at the end. Until the next lesson - one week later - there is a homework assignment that can be completed at locations of the students' choice. Despite the digital format, the main principle of urban sketching is ensured - drawing on location based on direct observation.

Jens teaches individual topics in a structured way on each evening of the course: In addition to practical tricks for sketching, you will learn which pens and colors can be used effectively with which papers and why. He reveals how lines and colors can be cleverly combined without competing, what is important in individual motifs and what can be left out, and much more. Discover the possibilities of using urban sketching to tell personal stories. All demo drawings, hints and tips are available in the virtual classroom for up to one month after the end of the masterclass. Individual support is ensured by answering personal questions at the beginning of all teaching units and also in between. Joint evaluations allow you to exchange ideas and learn from each other.

After this course, you will have in-depth knowledge to fill your own sketchbook with a wide variety of motifs, both indoors and outdoors, using a wide range of materials.
