In Pirate Jenny / Kurt Weill Reimagined, the German chanteuse dedicates herself to the dual genius of the Jewish cantor's son. Weill achieved great fame as Bertolt Brecht's musical partner. Together they created masterpieces such as The Threepenny Opera, The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny and The Seven Deadly Sins. After his forced escape from the National Socialists into exile in America, he began a second career as a musical composer. With pieces such as Knickerbocker Holiday, Lady in the Dark, One Touch of Venus and Street Scene, he paved the way for the modern musical and also created unforgettable jazz standards. To mark the 125th anniversary of his birth, Ute Lemper is releasing a new album with songs by Kurt Weill and can now be heard in concert with them.
