VELVET TWO STRIPES
Tour 2025
Velvet Two Stripes can't get enough! After their successful tour of Germany in 2024, which included a total of 5 sold-out concerts, the Swiss band is returning for a three-week tour in February 2025.
For 15 years, Sophie and Sara Diggelmann and Franca Mock have only known one direction: forward. "Nothing can hold us back," says Sara. Sophie adds: "We navigate as we please" - be it over the rusty railroad bridge on the Columbia River or between the underground and the music industry.
For the last album, Velvet Two Stripes traveled to Portland, invited by producer Dominik Schmidt. Only two songs were finished, the rest were sketches and ideas. "We had played a lot of live shows and hardly had any time to write," explains Franca. But it was precisely this short time that brought freshness to the album. Every morning they crossed the interstate bridge to Vancouver, WA, to write a song and record it in the afternoon. Two weeks later, all the songs were in the can, including the last vocal tracks, which Sophie recorded shortly before the flight home. "The three of us always get it done," says Sara.
The close collaboration enabled them to try out new things despite the tight schedule. As a result, "No Spell For Moving Water" became their most multi-faceted album to date. "We've grown up and become braver," says Sara. The opener "Fuckboy" remains true to garage rock, while other tracks such as "The One" and "Idaho" tell deeper, personal stories. Rock greats such as Vance Powell and Pete Lyman provided the perfect sound. Velvet Two Stripes remain in motion, unbound and committed only to themselves. Sophie: "The music remains the most important thing. We don't have to conform to any trends, just please ourselves."
