Verborgene Verbindungen | Salon zur Ausstellung ISA MONA LISA

In the organizer's words:

QUEERHISTORYMONTH

QueerHistoryMonth will take place in Hamburg from May 1 to 31, 2025 (www.queerhistoryhamburg.de). Various events during the festival will bring the history(ies) of the queer community in Hamburg to life. Everyone is welcome - kings, queers, queens, allies, friends, families (of choice) and everyone in between and beyond!

EVENT

A salon as part of QueerHistoryMonth with the SUPERZART* Festival and the Cake&Cash Curatorial Collective.

As part of QueerHistoryMonth and in conjunction with the exhibition "ISA MONA LISA", we invite (young) adults aged 16 and over to a salon that focuses on artistic neighborhoods and new perspectives.

Guests of the evening are the SUPERZART* Festival and the Cake&Cash Curatorial Collective, who will present their perspectives and works.

What is it about?
The exhibition focuses on connections between works of art and opens up new perspectives through its thematic arrangement. We take this up from a queer-historical perspective and ask: How can queer narratives be recognized in the exhibited works? Which queer artists, movements or collectives have shaped art history and to what extent are their strategies and forms of expression reflected in the exhibition?

There is a particular focus on queer artist collectives that have changed the art world through collaborative practice, political action and alternative narratives. How have they organized themselves in different historical contexts, and what traces do their works leave in the present? What parallels are there between the collective working methods of past decades and the projects of our guests?

By linking the works in the exhibition with the artistic practices and political struggles of queer collectives, we create a dialog between past and present. The event invites you to rediscover queer history in art, to question heteronormative readings and to make collective queer perspectives visible as an integral part of cultural developments.

What can you expect?
In a relaxed atmosphere and over a refreshing drink, an open panel will take place in which we will talk together about the various projects of our guests and explore possible connections to the exhibition.

Who is it for?
The salon is aimed at anyone interested in queer art, community and interdisciplinary connections - whether artist, cultural worker or simply out of curiosity.

We look forward to an inspiring evening with exciting conversations and new perspectives.
