Are we romantics by nature or have we simply watched too many romantic movies?
As girls, we all dreamed of love. Even before we started elementary school, we began to draw our dream wedding; over and over again. The conviction that we would find the love of our lives and thus achieve happiness shaped our idea of relationships. But what did we dream of before we tied our happiness to a feeling that was still unknown to us at the time? Can we find true fulfillment in a learned quality?
VERLIEBT is not a love story in which the narrative of life-fulfilling love is confirmed or destroyed. Rather, it is a profound examination of the feeling itself. The performance is a rediscovery of childlike impartiality towards kitsch and emotions, far removed from cynicism, and invites the audience to confront their own memories and emotions through the diary entries and thoughts of the authors, to question expectations and to experience anew the innocence and intensity of childhood longings.
