Vernissage Bert Berger (Malerei) in Ecco Meineke´s „GaGalerie“/ München

Dear art lovers!

On January 30, 2025 Meineke presents in his Gagalerie
paintings by Bert Berger.

The vernissage starts at 19:00 (until 22:00)
Finissage is on February 9, 2025 from 18:00 (until 21 o'clock)

The vernissage at Reifenstuelstr.14 starts at 18:00.

The artist will be present.

Bert Berger paints. He tells stories. He quotes. He has told many stories, especially professionally. He worked as a journalist for many years. Quotes - correct quotes - were his daily business in his journalistic work. In his painterly work, he uses references to art history from the Renaissance to Pop Art somewhat more freely.

His painterly work is primarily in the realistic tradition, with abstract diagonals, color fields or "rakeleien" from time to time. The everyday sequences he depicts are almost always accompanied by something fantastic, something surreal.
In the genre depictions, the human figures often appear in grey and white grisaille and, in their grey zone, stand in contrast to the colorful nature. He looks into the "happiness in the corner" and soon sees the illusion there. In terms of color, this corresponds with interference coloring and blurring. The scenes change, tilt. This is his interpretation of "romantic irony", his idea of an artistic process that reconciles enthusiasm and skepticism.

The former radio man retired in 2019. Since then, he has returned to painting. Bert Berger is married, has two grown-up children and two grandchildren. When his grandson calls out "Grandpa, paint!" during a visit then he has to get to work.
