Galerie Judith Andreae presents for the first time in Europe a solo exhibition by Accra-based artist Courage Hunke (2000, Ghana).
Known for his multi-layered collages and site-specific installations, Hunke draws on the streets, textures and memories of Accra to explore processes of transformation, memory and material culture. Hunke's works consist of "sandwiches" made from found paper and disposable plastic bags that he collects on the city streets - transforming waste into a testimony of lived experience. Without lapsing into nostalgia or exoticization, visual diaries emerge that tell of a broader urban reality while quietly confronting global imbalances in terms of climate impact and cultural visibility.
The exhibition combines new collages with a site-specific installation that references construction fences in Accra - often used there to conceal change, but reimagined here as spaces of expression. With this exhibition, Galerie Judith Andreae continues its commitment to a more inclusive and globally networked art discourse.
